Cold water therapy has been around forever, and has evolved significantly with time. Long gone are the days when you’d step into a cold shower and call that "cold therapy" - these days, there are products designed specifically to help you achieve your cold water-related wellness goals. These products are called “plunges”, and in this Plunge All-In review, we’ll take a look at one of the more premium of these products.

Plunge is a household name for cold plunging - both literally, as well as figuratively speaking. They have a rich product line, catering to different budgets and preferences. The All-In is the top-shelf product from the company - a plunge for those who want the maximum that cold plunging has to offer.

The big question is - is it worth the eyebrow-raising price tag? Well - that’s what we’ll try to figure out.

While I’ll get into all of the important stuff in more detail later on, I like to start my reviews with a quick overview of the product - this Plunge All-In review is no exception.

We’ll take a deeper dive into all of the important aspects surrounding the All-In Plunge. That said, if you’re short on time and just want a quick debrief, let me fill you in.

Take a single look online, and you’ll notice that the customer Plunge All-In reviews are glowing with excitement over this product. It’s widely considered to be among the best plunges that money can buy. Part of the reason is hype - the longevity community has been very passionate about this product ever since it came out, mostly due to the fact that it addresses a few shortcomings with some of the company’s earlier products.

That’s something worth mentioning, as well. As the name might imply, Plunge is a brand that specializes in, well… Cold plunges. Shocker, I know.

Jokes aside, Plunge offers customers 4 cold plunges in total, as well as a variety of additional accessories and even saunas. Yup, you can get a sauna - or even the full sauna + cold plunge package! - from Plunge. While some experts suggest allowing the body to warm up naturally is more beneficial than jumping from a cold plunge into a sauna^[1], the aforementioned combo is still the staple duo of the longevity community.

Going back to the All-In Plunge, it does have a lot to boast about. Advanced water filtration, sturdy and sleek design, smartphone connectivity, built-in cooler, optional heater - the list goes on and on.

While I could relish about the Plunge All-In specs all day, I’ll sum it up by saying this - personally, I agree with the Plunge All-In reviews left online. I think that the product’s great, as far as cold plunges go. It really is state of the art - however, my one gripe (and it’s a pretty significant deterrent) is the price. I just can’t justify spending $10k on a cold plunging tub.

But, that’s me - I prefer something that might be less innovative and cool, but far more affordable. It goes full circle, really - if you’re someone who’s super passionate about the latest-and-greatest in the longevity space, and have 10 grand to spare, by all means - this might be the perfect product for you!

Before making the decision or googling the Plunge All-In manual, though, I want you to have all of the details figured out. So, let’s get a bit more specific, and take a closer look at the benefits of this cold plunge. 

What We Liked

Here’s a no-nonsense list of the biggest benefits and features of the All-In plunge. In no particular order:

1. Top-tier build quality
2. Comfortable for tall people
3. Integrated cooler, available heater
4. Very easy to maintain
5. Smartphone connectivity

Durability is a weird aspect, when it comes to cold plunge tubs. I mean - how do you measure it, exactly? Well, one way of how you can look at it is this - will the plunge hold up with time,  or will it start forming cracks and fading color after a few uses? This is especially important for anyone who plans to keep the tub portable - i.e. move it from your house to the backyard and vice versa, depending on the season.

Analyzing the Plunge All-In specs, you will quickly learn that it’s made out of fiberglass-reinforced acrylic. In layman’s terms, this simply means that the tub is sturdy - durability isn’t something that you’ll need to worry about with this product.

Neither is comfort, for that matter! Plunge seem to have learned their lesson from their earlier products, and have made the All-In longer. Lying back on the slanted end, you’ll have around 64” / 162 cm of legroom. Plunge claims that the All-In will suit everyone up to 6’9 (205 cm) height.

So, in other words - it’s going to be a comfortable plunging experience for most people. The extra room, combined with the angled backrest, provide a relaxing cold therapy experience.

The All-In cold plunge also comes with an integrated cooler. “Integrated”, as in - it’s part of the actual tub. This makes the Plunge All-In dimensions out to be somewhat bulkier, but as far as aesthetics and usability are concerned, this is a huge improvement over external cooler alternatives.

The All-In cooler is also a redesigned product, in and of itself, cooling the water to as low as 37°F / 2.7°C. I personally don’t know anyone who’d plunge in water THIS cold, but if it’s something you’re into - you’ll have the option available to you!

There’s even an optional heater that you can purchase, for an extra $500. If that’s something that you’d opt in to do, this honestly makes the All-In to be a pretty good shower tub, in general - not just as far as cold plunging goes.

Another aspect discussed frequently among customer Plunge All-In reviews online is the maintenance. Quite frankly, it’s yet another aspect that Plunge has redesigned and streamlined. The All-In comes equipped with a high-level 20-micron ozone filtration system. Removing and cleaning the filter is very simple, which means that keeping your cold plunge tub clean is going to be a breeze, as well.

And, of course, the smartphone connectivity aspect. This is a huge selling point for Plunge - they appear to have poured a lot of money into their app, working with an in-house app team. And it goes to show, really - with the help of the app, you’ll be able to adjust the temperature of the plunge, track your progress each day, and even diagnose any issues remotely.

Naturally, the Plunge All-In comes with a phone holder. That’s in addition to a skimmer net, a hose filter, and a complementary rubber duck.

What We Didn’t Like

One could continue singing the Plunge All-In praises, but I think we’ve covered the major benefits of the product thoroughly.

You get it - it’s a cool cold plunge tub. And while studies suggest muscle soreness and recovery benefits that cold plunging provides to athletes^[2], you definitely don’t need to be one to enjoy the perks of the All-In.

That being said, we at Longeviters do have a few gripes with this particular cold plunge. And since no Plunge All-In review would be complete without addressing them, let's talk about it:

1. Very pricey
2. Lacks customization options
3. Not exactly “portable”

Let’s get straight to addressing the elephant in the room, shall we? The Plunge All-In is very expensive - without any added discounts, it retails for $9,990 (this includes the cooler, but excludes the optional heater). If you have that much money to splurge on a cold water tub - great. If not, I’d recommend you check out some more affordable alternatives.

Another point that grinds my gears, personally, is the fact that you can’t customize the All-In at all. And I’m not talking about the Plunge All-In dimensions or other ‘fundamental’ features - no, I’m referring to the aesthetics of the tub.

Yes, I understand that it’s a branding thing from Plunge - still, when you compare it with the many different options available from brands like Arctic Monkeys, it tends to be a bit disappointing. You’ll need to go for a very specific aesthetic in order for the All-In cold plunge to fit your taste.

Last but certainly not least, the tub isn’t exactly “portable”, per se. It CAN be moved around, technically speaking. But, you’re not going to have a good time doing so - the Plunge All-In weight is 238 lbs / 108 kg, so it’s not exactly an inflatable tub that can be thrown around easily. Plan for a semi-permanent spot if you’re going to purchase it, or at least think of ways of how you’re going to move it around without straining your back.

Is Plunge All-In Comfortable?

Comfort is one of the areas where the All-In cold plunge has significantly improved on, when compared to some of the company’s previous models. It all boils down to legroom and the slanted backrest design.

If you’re a tall person - and I’m talking basketball-player-height -, you probably know how much of a pain in the butt it can be to find a plunge that’d suit you. Ice buckets, tubs, or any other cold plunge-suitable containers become unsuitable pretty fast, if you’re basically only able to skinny dip into them.

As I’ve mentioned earlier in the review, the Plunge All-In dimensions are very accommodating to tall people. With around 64” (162 cm) of legroom, the tub will suit most people. In fact, your average individual will have a lot of space to work with - it can actually be very relaxing, if you choose to upgrade your Plunge into a full-on general-purpose tub, with the optional heater.

The angled backrest isn’t a new concept - it’s been featured in other Plunge products, with the Air tub being a notable example. Nonetheless, it’s certainly a feature of comfort - your back will thank you, trust me.

Filling, Emptying & Cleaning the Plunge All-In

The Plunge All-In can be filled using a standard garden hose, buckets of water, or any other way that you’d see fit. If you do decide to go the hose route, the included hose filter will help with all of the impurities, providing clean water for your sessions.

It's generally recommended to run water through the filter for about 30 seconds to activate the carbon, preventing any carbon dust from entering the tub.

I’d say the easiest way to drain the Plunge All-In is to attach a garden hose to the designated drain outlet. However, I’ve come across user Plunge All-In reviews that report challenges with this process, noting that certain hoses may not fit properly, leading them to drain the tub manually.

The All-In cold plunge features an ozone sanitation system combined with an NSF50-certified 20-micron filter, ensuring that the water remains clear and free from harmful bacteria. The filter is very easy to access and clean, making replacements straightforward. Regular testing of water quality is advised, and the tub comes with a starter kit for testing and balancing the water's chemical composition.

Customer Support

If you’ve done any online shopping, whatsoever, you can probably attest to just how important post-purchase support can be. I think that, when it comes to such high-ticket products as a full-sized cold plunge tub, this importance is exacerbated tenfold.

Plunge’s customer support appears to be a rather contentious topic among the company’s clients. So, let’s talk about it.

You’ll come across two types of people online - those who praise Plunge’s “100% U.S.-based customer support”, and others who are less excited about it. The former group will tell you that support is proactive, helpful, and quick to respond, while the latter would complain about long response times and issues with delayed shipping / difficult returns.

The two-sided debate kind of signals that a lot depends on external factors - how busy the support team gets, how difficult or urgent the issue that you’re having is, and so on.

One thing that I think is worth emphasizing in this Plunge All-In review is the fact that the team behind Plunge can perform remote diagnostics on your tub. Not only that, but they’ll likely be proactive in reaching out to you about it - if their system received a warning that something’s off with your tub (whether it be the chiller, the filter, or else), they might reach out to warn you about it, and find a solution.

Very few cold plunges can flex a feature like this, so it’s certainly notable, at the very least.

And so, we’ve reached the most controversial point in this Plunge All-In review - the price discussion. Since I already gave my opinion about the pricing of this product, I’ll just lay out some facts for you, regarding the options and special offers that you can expect from Plunge.

Ultimately, equipped with all of the information I’ve provided in this review, it remains for you to decide whether this product is worth the money or not:

You can also add a few other products to your purchase, such as additional filters, a neck pillow, and even a custom-tailored basin.

Now, when it comes to special offers and other types of deals, it would appear that Plunge does host these, from time to time. As of me writing this review, there’s currently a $500-off discount on both of the aforementioned product options.

Other customer Plunge All-In reviews online mention that you could snag even better deals, if you’re lucky with the timing - free filter additions, bigger discounts, and similar.

To top that off, there’s financing available, too. You can finance the All-In with Bread Pay, with 0% interest for 24 months, and a monthly payment of as low as $266.01.

Comparison to Other Cold Plunges

To round up the review, let’s take a look at how the All-In cold plunge tub compares with some other popular cold plunges on the market. This should serve as a good reference point, if nothing else!

We’ll start off with a bit of a twist - comparing Plunge’s most luxurious product with what is arguably the company’s most popular tub!

Plunge All-In VS Plunge Air

The All-In is superior to its predecessor in almost every way - I mean, that’s kind of a given, considering the price differences between the two tubs.

That being said, both tubs are quite similar - the Plunge All-In dimensions are bigger, it cools down to a lower temperature, and features quite a few additional aspects that the Air lacks.

The two biggest differences between these cold plunge tubs, however, come in the shape of pricing and construction. The Air is nearly 3 times more affordable than the All-In. It’s also an inflatable tub - which, in turn, means that it’s going to be very portable.

On the other hand, if you prefer quality of materials and long-lasting durability, it goes without saying that the All-In is better in this area.

Plunge All-In VS Arctic Warriors

Arctic Warriors offers a variety of cold plunge therapy-related products to its clients, and their Air XL is the most popular one.

Straight off the bat, even assuming that you’d go for the bundle offer from them, the plunge in question is, once again, nearly 3 times more affordable than the All-In. Same as the Air (I’m referring to Plunge’s product here), the Arctic Warriors Air XL plunge is inflatable - so, you can carry it around no problem.

It also has a higher capacity than the All-In, comes in black or white, and features WiFi smart control.

Obviously, however, the lower price tag does signal compromises, as well - it’s a smaller, less sturdy, and less feature-heavy tub when compared to the All-In.

Plunge All-In VS Polar Monkeys

The Brainpod 2.0 is probably the closest product that could compete with the All-In, in areas ranging from its price tag, all the way to temperature settings and water filtration.

You don’t need to do a double-take at the Plunge All-In manual to see that the Brainpod 2.0 is a smaller tub.  This also means that it’s going to hold less water - interestingly, though, Polar Monkeys’ product will allow you to cool the water to an even lower temperature!

You can see all of the nerdy data below, but what I want to mention here is something that the numbers don’t reveal - the fact that the brainpod comes in a selection of different designs and colors for you to pick & choose from. It’s essentially an art piece in itself!

In Summary: Is Plunge All-In Right for You?

Let me summarize this Plunge All-In review by putting it this way: the All-In is a fantastic, feature-rich cold plunge tub that will suit the wants and needs of most longevity enthusiasts out there.

But! - it’s expensive.

So, if money isn’t an issue to you, I’d say you really can’t go wrong with the Plunge All-In. On the other hand, if you’re on a stricter budget, or simply want a smaller and much more portable cold plunge tub, there are alternatives for you to explore - you needn’t even look far, since the Plunge Air is a great example!
